Shodo is Japanese Calligraphy and is a specialized art using a brush
and black ink to write kanji characters.
What
is kanji?
Kanji are Chinese characters. They were first imported to Japan
in the 5th Century via Korea. Kanji are ideograms, i.e. every character
has a meaning and corresponds to a word.
How
do you translate my name?
Most kanji represent a one or two syllable sound. We will pick the
kanji that match the syllables of your name.
Who
paints the calligraphy?
Our resident artist is a Japanese woman named Eri Kato.
Where
are you based?
We are based in Tokyo, Japan.
How
long will it take?
The calligraphy paintings will normally arrive within 14 days of
placing your order. The tattoo translations are emailed within 48
hours.
How
do I pay?
You can pay on our website with a credit card via PayPal.
Can
I return a painting?
If the painting is damaged please return it within 14 days of receiving
it and we will replace it or refund you the money. We are sorry
but we cannot refund postage costs.
